Bioremediation – Microbes

Bioremediation refers to clean-up activities that use microbes to destroy hazardous or toxic compounds in a waste treatment system or contaminated site. Microbes including bacteria, moulds, fungi and yeasts are the primary decomposers of all waste organics produced in our environment, whether it originates from human, animal or plant sources.

The microbial process is responsible for cleaning our rivers, streams and soil. Scientists began developing microbial formulas in the early 1990s to treat a number of different organic pollutants that are typically encountered in wastewater treatment plants, collection systems and industrial applications. Since this time, we have developed waste treatment products for a number of industries including:

We have demonstrated significant reductions in organic materials, pathogenic organisms, odours, nitrates and phosphates that are typical problems in industry waste. We have developed and implemented the following effective solutions:


Fats, oils and grease (FOG) are deposited in our sewer systems, septic tanks, grease traps, water treatment systems and processing plants. FOG requires countless hours of maintenance for clean-up and causes malfunctions of essential water collection and treatment equipment for municipal and industrial operations. Our microbial formula for FOG reduction has been proven to remediate grease-filled collection systems including sewer lines, lift stations and grease traps. Treatment of grease traps can essentially eliminate the need for pumping. It remediates grease and oil in anaerobic lagoons at animal processing plants. It is effective in eliminating accumulated grease in lift stations at wastewater collection systems. It can also remove grease in food processing systems, restaurants, grease traps and in pipes.

One of the major causes of poor crop yield and mortality is the buildup of nitrogen - specifically nitrites - the most toxic to animals in the water. Our product converts the nitrogen ions to elemental nitrogen and returns it into the atmosphere. Our product mineralises the sludge, as well as dissolved and suspended solids in the water. This process greatly improves the yield of ponds and significantly decreases mortality caused by poor water quality. Animals are, in turn, able to better resist the onset of diseases caused by poor water quality.


Our product can eliminate odours in various types of wastewater systems. In addition, the product helps reduce grease and other accumulated organic materials.


This product is specifically designed to keep ponds free of algae and other aquatic nuisance weeds. It also cleans up organic sludge in ponds. It works by denitrifying the water to below the concentration that algae needs to survive. Our product lowers phosphorus while allowing it to stay intact in the bacterial cells. Some of the nitrogen remains within the bacterial cells while the remainder is converted to elemental nitrogen and released into the atmosphere.


The use of our microbes in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) can increase efficiency to the point that volumes several times the design capacity of the plants can be accommodated. This accelerated degradation rate for sludge can significantly delay the need for plant expansion or the construction of new facilities. This product has been shown to enhance WWTP operations by significantly reducing odours and sludge volumes up to 75 per cent.


Our microbial formulas have been used to successfully remediate waste lagoons connected with rendering, processing and slaughtering plants. Significant benefits of using our product for remediation of waste lagoons connected with these plants are odour control and the elimination of grease, sludge and other organic solids.


We treat polluted waterways, lakes, rivers and streams by targeting the source of contamination. The bacterial treatment will cleanse the body of water and continue into the stream or river as it flows to its natural termination.


Our formula is designed to remediate the accumulated sludge in animal waste lagoons and decrease nitrogen from effluent waters. Our experience has shown that the product performs in dairy, chicken and hog lagoons. It is also very effective as a septic tank sludge digester and in unclog drain fields. Use of this product may eliminate the need to ever pump a septic system again.


Some municipalities may have waste lagoons connected with WWTP(s) and others may have only lagoons. When these lagoons become full of sludge, they must be cleaned to regain capacity. The typical solution is to dredge the lagoon and haul the sludge to a landfill or to land-apply the sludge. This procedure is very expensive, inefficient and causes significant odour in the work area. Bacterial remediation of lagoons generally amounts to less than 25 per cent of the dredging and hauling cost.


This product is used to treat waste sludge lagoons from an aeration basin to allow continuous decanting. It is also used in primary wastewater lagoons to reduce biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) in effluent water and to remediate accumulated sludge.


This product has been approved by the State of Florida EPA for use in groundwater remediation of hydrocarbons. It has also been listed by the USA EPA in the National Contingency Plan Product Schedule for remediation of all types of hydrocarbons from crude oil to light refined fractions. We have remediated diesel, BTEX, gasoline, crude oil and even used motor oil. Our product has been used to successfully remediate soil, water and ground water.
